Who are you?

Blog

An internet radio station is playing in the background when an ad comes on.  At one point it states, “After all, without your stuff, what are you?  Better yet, who are you without your stuff?”  That kind of hit me like a brick.  It not-so-subtly is telling me that I am nothing without my worldly items.  If tomorrow each of us were to lose it all- home, car, clothes, computer, ipad-type technological items, insurance policies, etc., we would still be children of the Most High God.  Sure, life would be more difficult without these things, but we would still be His.

I ask you to think about what and who you are without your stuff.  Take a few minutes to set aside all of this life’s trappings.  Don’t worry about homework, making supper, missing the halftime reports, the latest tweet- whatever competes for your complete focus.  Reflect on the immense, strong, unwavering love the Lord God Almighty has for you.  Know what and who you are in Him and Him alone.  Don’t use this world’s lens, but His.

John 1:12; 1 Corinthians 3:23; 1 Corinthians 6:20; Matthew 6:24 compilation:
12 But to all who did receive Him, He gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in His name /23 and you belong to Christ, and Christ to God /20 for you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body.  /24 No one can be a slave of two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot be slaves of God and of money.
