Bags of Joy ministry launches Sunday November 15

November 11, 2015

bags of joy webThis is Northstar’s fourth year to partner with area foster care agencies to ensure that foster children in our region are blessed with a special Christmas. Bags of Joy is a ministry to reach children in Foster Care within Montgomery, Giles, and Pulaski Counties. Our hope is to show them the love of Christ by providing a bag of gifts for Christmas. This simple act is a way to show these children that the church cares about them. Last year we provided 150+ bags to children in Foster Care. The staff at the Social Service offices were very appreciative.

This ministry effort launches annually on our Missions Sunday (November 15) as members and guests at both our Blacksburg and Pulaski campuses pick up the red bags and then stuff them with goodies for Christmas for children in foster families. This practical expression of Jesus’ love is also a wonderful encouragement to foster parents during this season.

Bags of Joy not only provide items for youth at Christmas, but they also help provide for youth entering foster care throughout the year. Many of the youth in foster care enter placements with little belongings. Bags of Joy provide youth with necessities as well as comforting items.
