Rachel is a Junior at Virginia Tech. She is a self proclaimed Hokie from birth, studying Marketing and Entrepreneurship. Rachel love sports – playing them and watching them! She enjoys doing activities in the outdoors!
1. Why are you involved in youth ministry?
My sister was a leader for ReVerb during her senior year at Tech and she encouraged me to check it out. She mentioned how it was a great way to serve and how awesome it was to get to know the kids and be able to encourage them in their walk with Christ.
2. How were you impacted as a young person for Jesus?
I grew up in a Christian home and my family attended a very large church where it was hard to feel connected with the youth group, but I always wanted that community. Ultimately, I was impacted the most by my parents and sister as I saw how much they loved Jesus and they encouraged me to do the same.
3. What has impacted you during your time serving?
I have learned so much from the group of girls I get to lead. They radiate joy and are truly unashamed of the gospel. These girls, along with the other youth leaders, encourage me to love Jesus with all my heart. The small community aspect of Northstar, compared to my church at home, has also greatly impacted me and I have been able to really experience this through serving with the youth.
4. What would you say to those who are interested in getting involved?
I would say, do it! I was intimated at first, but quickly began to feel very welcomed and I realized God was doing big things through this youth group that I am so excited and thankful to be a part of.
5. How would you encourage young people to get involved?
I would encourage young people to make time to come see how ReVerb can encourage your walk with Christ while you also have a blast with super awesome people. These people quickly become great friends who will have a lasting impact on your life. It is a great opportunity to go deeper with your faith as you grow up and face different challenges.
