Time Alone With God – A D28 Lab

Blog

Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. – Mark 1:35

What does it look like to spend time alone with God on a daily basis? How much time are we talking about? What are we supposed to do during that time? Why should we, as Christians, be expected to spend time with God?

These were just a few of the questions that our D28 participants attempted to answer during a recent D28 Lab focusing on Time Alone With God.

Jeff began the Saturday session with the simple question: Why have a quiet time? We could easily give the Sunday School answer and say, “Because Jesus did it” (as seen in the above verse from Mark). But is that enough?

We should spend regular, devoted, focused, and intimate time with the Father because He loves us and invites us to KNOW Him. And as we spend that time along with God, as we get to know Him better, we become more like Him. We are reminded of our mission as followers of Christ: a vision for life and the lost. We are reminded that it’s not about us… it’s about Him.

Why have a quiet time?

  • Because He loves us and invites us.
  • Because we become more like Him.
  • Because it renews and refreshes us.
  • Because it reminds us of our mission and vision.
