It’s all about perspective. As part of Northstar’s For The Love of Money series, Associate Pastor, Neal Nelson opened his message by inviting us to take a player’s perspective versus a spectator’s perspective to God’s word.
If we do, we will:
- Wonder why we may be tempted to trust anything other than our Heavenly Father.
- Be excited about opportunities to give of our time, talents and resources.
- Be physically and emotionally relieved as we receive the peace of Christ.
Neal invited us to look at the following scriptures:
And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. (Php. 4:19)
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (Matt 6:33)
Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. (Mark 10:29-30)
But when this son of yours came, who has devoured your property with prostitutes, you killed the fattened calf for him!’ And he said to him, ‘Son, you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours. (Luke 15:30-31)
God’s Word proves that He is all in. Our Heavenly Father is ready to supply our every need, all that is His can be ours. Neal made the point, the love of God makes the love of money a poor investment of our heart. He concluded his message with this quote from Jim Elliot, “He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” You and I only stand to gain by taking a player’s perspective to God’s word.
