#GivingTuesday

Blog

In 2012, the movement known as Giving Tuesday began. According to the Giving Tuesday website, it is an idea that was created by the team at the Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact at the 92nd Street Y in New York City. It’s an idea that harnesses the power of social media and collaboration, encouraging people around the world to celebrate and encourage giving.

At Northstar Church, we recently experienced a sermon series titled, “For the Love of Money.” Throughout the series, we were challenged to be good stewards of the resources with which God has provided us. As we enter a season characterized by charitable giving, kicked off by today’s Giving Tuesday, we do so coming out of another sermon series, “Be Thankfuel,” reminding us that giving thanks fuels our lives and prevents ingratitude from ruling our lives.

Thanksgiving gives us a chance to express our gratitude to God for all He’s blessed us with. A weekend of spending is now bookended by a day encouraging us to give out of those blessings.
