Spooky season is halfway over, and November is right around the corner, which means three things:

  1. First, it means that flannel season has started.
  2. Second, it means that Thanksgiving is coming up soon! Yaaaay!
  3. Thirdly, we get to embark on a tradition that has become a favorite here at Northstar, and if you haven’t already guessed what that is based on the article title, it is time for Bags of Joy again!

Bags of Joy is a ministry to reach children in Foster Care within Montgomery, Giles, and Pulaski Counties. Our hope is to show them the love of Christ by providing a bag of gifts for Christmas. This simple act is a way to show these children that the church cares about them. Last year we provided 150+ bags to children in Foster Care. In addition, we are able to provide Bags of Joy for adults in the foster system as well!

This year, you will be able to pick them up beginning Sunday, October 25. This practical expression of Jesus’ love is also a wonderful encouragement to foster parents during this season. There will also be a way to donate without picking up a bag! You can virtually sign up at this link: https://forms.gle/X6ggdUARoqQZm5c17

Bags of Joy not only provide items for youth at Christmas, but they also help provide for youth entering foster care throughout the year. Many of the youth in foster care enter placements with little belongings. Bags of Joy provide youth with necessities as well as comforting items.
