Blog

This entry is part 6 of 9 in the series Passion Week Devotionals 2018

Before you begin today’s reading, take a moment and prepare your heart before God in prayer. Ask him to speak to you through today’s scripture reading. Read slowly through Luke 22:66-23:49. In the hours before Jesus’ crucifixion and death, He was mocked, spit on, and beaten. When He was gathered before the chief priests and scribes, they asked Him if …

This past Sunday, Northstar had the privilege of hosting Tim Hartin, who is the area director for YoungLife in the NRV. Tim started out his message encouraging us to become men and women of God’s word and to keep our eyes on Jesus. December Nights – Nearness

Blog

December Nights is a Northstar tradition that allows us to de-program from the spirit of the holidays that our culture celebrates with gift giving, food, travel, and materialism. What Could Possibly Be THAT Valuable?

“The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.” –Matthew 13.44 ESV This past Sunday, we wrapped up a four week teaching series on stewardship by walking through the parable of the hidden …

Unity Takes a Wholehearted Effort

Blog

“I, therefore, as a prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.” — Ephesians 4:1-3 As I sat at the kitchen …

To Whom Will We Go?

Blog

This past Sunday, Jeff kicked off a new sermon series titled BE’N’GO. The high point of this week’s message was the importance of knowing who Jesus is before we attempt to serve Him. As we read through John 6:60-71, we saw Jesus’ followers walk away from Him. I know that, as I listened to the message, I was quick to judge …

Butterflies and Rainbows

Blog

As our church family prepares to vote on borrowing money for our building project this coming Sunday, my heart is filled with hope. Sure, there are butterflies in my stomach because, let’s face it, we are talking about 4.7 million dollars. That’s A LOT of money, y’all. As I think about this journey our church has been on, my mind wanders …
