GAP Hike and Homeplace

News, GAP

Are you new to Blacksburg and want to knock two things off your bucket list in one day? Join GAP on Saturday, September 16 to hike McAfee’s Knob and then eat at the Homeplace restaurant! McAfee’s Knob is one of the most photographed locations on the Appalachian Trail, and the Homeplace is one of the area’s most popular restaurants, in close proximity to the trail. They specialize in home cooked comfort food served family style. More information about the Homeplace here!

McAfee’s Knob is a moderately difficult 8 mile hike round trip, where at the summit you are rewarded with a beautiful view of Roanoke, Catawba, and the surrounding valleys. More specific information about the hike here. There are a couple of different options to hike up and down, so if you are concerned about the difficulty contact Matt.

Hiking not your thing, but don’t want to miss out on the Homeplace? Totally fine! Just indicate that on the RSVP form below and you will be given instructions on when and where to meet at the Homeplace. We will be meeting there at approximately 5:00 p.m. that evening. Bring cash for dinner!
