Giving Tuesday 2019

December 2, 2019

December 3 is Giving Tuesday!

That is TOMORROW.

In 2012, the movement known as Giving Tuesday began. Even though it follows Black Friday and Cyber Monday, which are two days where we spend lots of our money, Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to put some of your money to good use. Now, we aren’t saying that the new Titanium Panini Grill you just bought is a bad use of your money, but we would like to raise the notion that there may be better uses. Giving Tuesday is an idea that harnesses the power of social media and collaboration, encouraging people around the world to celebrate and encourage giving.

At Northstar Church, we recently experienced a sermon series titled, “Giving > Getting” Throughout the series, we were challenged to be good stewards of the resources with which God has provided us. As we enter a season characterized by charitable giving, kicked off by this year’s Giving Tuesday, we do so remembering gratitude. We want to be thankful for all that God has blessed us with.

Thanksgiving gives us a chance to express our gratitude to God for all He’s blessed us with. A weekend of spending is now bookended by a day encouraging us to give out of those blessings.

If you are interested in participating in #GivingTuesday this year, we encourage you to consider one (or more) of the following:
