Home Away from Home for college students

News, College Ministry

What do you think of when you hear the word home? We think of a warm place to relax, have a good meal, and spend quality time with family while being refreshed.

We love our many college students at Northstar and are always looking for new ways to support and help them Be the Church. While college students have a place to live, most do not experience the blessing of a true home while they are away at school.

The goal of Home Away from Home is to minister to college students simply by providing a fun, intentional time of fellowship with a family and a place to relax from the demands of classes once a month or so. It can be as simple as a home-cooked meal and get-to-know you conversations or you may choose to meet more often in different capacities. Home Away from Home could involve meals with the entire family, a chance to do laundry or take a nap outside of the dorm, transporting college students without cars to/from church services, serving together at Northstar or in other ministry areas, attending local events together, and praying for and with each other as you continue to interact. It’s up to you!

If you are a college student and would like to spend time with a church family in their home, or if you are a Northstar couple or family and would like to host students, contact College Ministry leader Erin Petersen.
