EXTRA FURNITURE? We could use it! We are teaming with churches and ministries in the NRV to collect and give away furniture to new international students. Your donations will help us minister to international students and scholars coming in the fall. We accept almost any type of furniture, but we cannot accept mattresses or sofa beds. Desks, tables, sofas, bookshelves and chairs are especially popular. If you would like to donate furniture, please contact the BCM at 552-5473 to arrange drop-off, or pick-up if needed. There are many other ways to help at the actual giveaway event on Saturday, August 16!
If you’d like to volunteer to help on that Saturday, please contact Jay Lester. Training is on Friday, August 15 at 7:00 p.m. at the Baptist Collegiate Ministry building (Kent & Washington Streets). The event on Saturday begins at 7:00 a.m. and concludes about 1:00 p.m., when the last piece of furniture is loaded up and delivered.
That evening, we hope you’ll come back to fellowship and introduce yourself to international students at a dinner hosted by ACROSS ministries. Northstar annually provides the chicken for that, as well as grills and other assistance.
