Lecture by Dr. Michael Kruger: Hidden Gospels

February 11, 2016

unnamedWhat’s the real story on the life of Jesus Christ? Traditionally, Christians have turned to the four Gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – found in the New Testament. However, a claim commonly heard today is that, from the very beginning of the Christian era, there were other gospels being circulated about Jesus. These writings, it is maintained, present a different side of Jesus and reveal alternative forms of Christianity, which were later suppressed by
authorities.

Why does the Bible contain four, and only four, gospels about Jesus? Were there other early writings about Jesus? How diverse was early Christianity? Who decided which writings would make it into the New Testament?

Here are the details:

  • Who: Dr. Michael J. Kruger
  • Time: Tuesday, March 1, 7:00 pm
  • Location: Blacksburg Christian
Fellowship, 2300 N. Main Street in Blacksburg
