We start in 1 Chronicles 19 and see David’s army tallying military victory after victory. Some of these victories are over gigantic men (Goliath’s brother and another large man with 6 fingers on each hand and foot). In the midst of all of these victories we take a closer look at what is going on within David’s family in 2 Samuel 13. We read about David’s son, Absalom, and see through different events how he ends up ‘stealing the hearts of the men of Israel,’ and enters into an entire plot to take the kingdom. We can see a pattern of how living a life of compromise (like David in this story) can come back and haunt you.
