Early Commit DinnerOn Monday evening, October 9, Northstar hosted an Early Commitment Gathering at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship for its leadership teams – Staff, Leadership Board, small group and D28 leaders. Our very own Suzie Schmitt (of The Green Cupboard), provided coffee and hors d’oeuvres.

Our pastor shared the vision of the Immeasurably More campaign – to provide Northstar with a future ministry facility that would bless both our church and our community. Our leaders were encouraged to prayerfully make an “early commitment” to the building campaign. The campaign itself is set to encompass three years.

There are three goals for the campaign:

  1. Challenge Goal – $1,000,000
This goal was set at a level that we felt was “attainable” and yet still a significant amount to encourage our church family.
  2. Starter Goal – $2,000,000
The Starter Goal enables us to “start” the project – to begin prepping the land and moving forward with the early parts of design and construction.
  3. Immeasurably More Goal – $5,000,000
This goal would provide for most of the cost of the land and building construction and enable us to set a target on completion and occupancy!

As of Monday, October 19, we were thrilled to see that God had led our leaders to commit and give $932,291! That’s 93% of our Challenge Goal! We are overjoyed as a church family about what our leaders have by faith committed and given to the campaign.

Looking Toward Commitment Sunday

On October 25, our Immeasurably More campaign will reach its apex in our Commitment Sunday. We are asking all members, attenders and alumni of Northstar to begin turning in your commitment cards on that day. On Sunday, November 8, we will have a special Celebration Service to announce how God has provided through you.

October 25 is also the weekend of Virginia Tech’s homecoming, and so we’re excited to welcome back former Northstar-ians, as well as parents and friends of current students who are in town for the Hokie game.

It will be a special day of worship and celebration. We’ve got Blacksburg High School reserved for the event! We hope you’ll help us by inviting all former members and attenders of Northstar to join us on that day.
