The last Sunday of January 2017, during our State of the Church address, Jeff announced the beginning of our #100Sundays awareness and social media campaign. In 100 Sundays, as God provides, Northstar will witness the construction of our ministry center, and by December 2018, we will move in!
It’s hard to believe that Northstar will be 14 years old this month! We have experienced God’s work in our midst in remarkable ways since our church was launched.
The first publicized gathering of Northstar Church took place on Sunday, February 23, 2003. At 3 P.M. “An Afternoon With Northstar” was held at the new Middle School on Prices Fork Road in Blacksburg. A group from Liberty University, The Sounds of Liberty, provided music for the event, and our founding pastor, Bob Jackson, shared the vision for a new church. Almost 60 people attended.
After significant growth in 2012-2014, we voted as a church family to buy 10 acres of land on Prices Fork Road and finalized the purchase in September 2014. We were amazed by God’s gracious provision to celebrate the burning of the land note – fully paid – in October 2015 during our Immeasurably More Campaign launch!
God is at work through the generosity and sacrificial giving of His people at Northstar. We’ve been humbled to receive gifts from sources outside our church family as well.
So, please bookmark this blog and check it often in the days ahead as we begin to move forward quickly through the next #100Sundays – in faith together.
