Immeasurably MoreWe began searching for our “next location” in the fall of 2012. We’d seen a significant attendance increase during that year, and our leadership team felt it important to begin looking in preparation for the future.

Little did we know how hard land is to find in Blacksburg! We searched high and low and pursued several possibilities before discovering (and feeling led) to the 10 acres of land of Prices Fork that we purchased in 2014.

Due to our significant student ministry, our attendance fluctuates a lot between school year and summers. As we entered the building design process, we chose Spectrum Design out of Roanoke to help us design a facility that would be both for our church and for our community.

The building design is roughly 33,000 square feet. It’s a monumental undertaking for a church like Northstar. In fact, we know that it’s a project that our existing membership simply can’t fulfill. And we like it that way. It places us squarely before God with a posture of complete dependence upon His provision.

Therefore, as we began the campaign, we knew that simply appealing for cash wouldn’t fulfill the needs. If everyone at Northstar today gave sacrificially, we’d still come up short!

Therefore, we made the decision to make our campaign a faith adventure rather than a fundraising effort. We selected Ephesians 3:20-21 as our focal promise:

“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”

Pastor Jeff Noble then began to write the sermons for our Immeasurably More series with the simple goal of leading us to find all our contentment in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Our conviction is simply this: when we find all our contentment in Christ, He will do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.

We encourage you to listen to the messages in the series. Simply put, they’ve been inspired. We are resolved to trust and to lean forward in faith as we depend upon our Immeasurably More God in this spiritual adventure.
