From the Right: Meredith, Amy, David, and Mark VanCovern

It has been an unexpected privilege to be the prayer leader for the IM team. When we began the IM campaign, I remember feeling excited. I loved how the campaign has always been about seeking God’s leading. But in the back of my mind, I did think, “This is great! I’ll just watch because I have no skills that could ever be used in this process.” It wasn’t long before a thought entered my mind about how grateful I was that our leadership had been praying over the process. Following that, the thought came that I should be praying with them. I did pray and thought my duty was done, but God sometimes likes to answer prayer through motivating the one who prayed. I felt strongly that prayer shouldn’t be reserved for the leadership team alone. I began to wonder if anyone else within the church was praying for our campaign.

I have gotten so much more than just the privilege of praying and helping to bring along others to pray. I have been able to see the hand of God at work in bringing together such an amazing team. The skill-sets that each member has are so well-honed, it is obvious that none other than God could have put this team together. In fact, in some ways our team is like a microcosm of the Body of Christ. Each member has their own unique role and when they are all combined and pulling together, amazing things are happening.

It has been encouraging and unifying to be a part of praying with different groups in our church. If you feel like you don’t have a way to be a part of our IM campaign, I hope you will reconsider. Our team has discussed numerous times how awesome it will be for those who participated to stand inside our building once it is finished and feel a part of what God has done. He is certainly moving and answering prayers continually through this process. I couldn’t be more grateful to have been a witness to what He has done and will continue to do.
