When it comes to Immeasurably More and our preparation for Northstar’s future Ministry Center, I would think Northstar members and friends have questions that are echoing around in their heads as we walk through this season of waiting. Questions like, “Are we close to the final steps on securing financing for the project?” and, “When do we break ground?”

Burt, my pastor when I lived in Texas, had a catchy summary phrase that he used quite often. (If you don’t speak Texan, know that many Texans like catchy summary phrases.) Burt’s go to phrase was “proper rations at proper times.” What Burt meant by that was something along the lines of, “Trust God to give us the right provisions at the right time and the right leadings at the right time. Don’t get ahead of yourselves, and more importantly, don’t get ahead of God.”

“Proper rations at proper times” is an apt description of where we are as we move forward with Immeasurably More and trusting God with the questions and the decisions about next steps. It is a beautiful thing to watch God provide the right leaders who are part of just what we need as we navigate what trusting God looks like for Northstar in these days. I think of folks like Amy Van Covern, whose faithfulness and focus on prayer and rallying people to pray reminds me that praying is one of the most “practical” things we can do right now. Also, the consistency of guys like Jim Rancourt and Travis Jessee as they lead us well through both the big picture details and the minutia has been a blessing to watch.

Every day we get closer to the answers on questions like the ones in the first paragraph, so continue to join us in prayer. Pray for these leaders and for Immeasurably More. Pray for your role in giving and serving – there are multiple Immeasurably More teams that would benefit from having some more voices and hands to be involved.  Pray with gratitude to the God who keeps providing proper rations at proper times.
