This entry is part 12 of 37 in the series New Member Spotlight

We are excited to welcome Erika Gresh into our Northstar family! If you haven’t had a chance to meet her yet, look for her on Sunday morning! Erika was introduced to Northstar through Adelyn Noble a few years ago and recently became a member in September!

Tell the church a little about yourself.

I’m a nursing student at Radford University. I hope to be an ER Nurse and eventually a Traveling Nurse so I can explore more of the U.S. I grew up in Blacksburg and have attended Northstar since my senior year of high school in 2016. My 2016 New Years resolution was to find a church and strengthen my relationship with the Lord. Within the first month of 2016, I was introduced to Northstar and I’ve attended ever since. I became a Youth Leader for the middle school girls at the beginning of this semester and I have loved every second of it.

What is a way that the Lord has worked in your life this past year?

This past year has been a rollercoaster ride for me. I have experienced highs and lows that I didn’t think were possible. I am a type A that craves consistency, and that hasn’t been a common theme for me recently. I know that life will never go exactly as I plan it, regardless of how much preparing I do. Despite the inconsistencies and curveballs thrown my way, I can always count on one thing to remain the same – God. He is constantly forgiving my sins, loving me when my heart is at its ugliest, and reminding me that He is with me and that I never have to face anything alone. His love, his word, and his desire for me has remained consistent. It’s because of my relationship with Him that I am able to handle everything thrown my way.

Why are you excited to be a member of Northstar?

I’m excited to be a member of NorthStar because I want to help give back to the church that has given me so much. The community and atmosphere is like no other church. Our Pastor also has the funniest jokes in town! (she must be thinking of a different pastor). I hope to broaden my spiritual knowledge, continue to grow in my faith, and help invite others into our church community. I feel very at home here at Northstar and I’m so grateful for everyone that has made me feel welcomed.
