Welcome to a new feature on the Northstar blog where we take a moment to welcome and get to know some of our newest church members! In this post, we meet Tyler and Katie Farnsworth!
Tell the church a little about yourself…
We’ve been married for three years and recently moved to Blacksburg from Chapel Hill, NC where Tyler was completing a Ph.D. in Polymer/Materials Chemistry at the University of North Carolina. We love coffee, hiking, board games, and meeting new people!
What brought you to Blacksburg?
Tyler accepted a position as a Research Scientist at Luna Innovations. Katie later got a job as an Infusion Nurse at the Carilion New River Valley Hospital.
Why are you excited about being the church with Northstar?
Northstar is passionate about loving people well, and we are excited to join this community to share with others the love of Christ.
Where was your previous church and in what ways did you serve?
Chapel Hill Bible Church – Chapel Hill, NC
Ways we served:
- Youth Group small group leaders (Tyler & Katie)
- Women’s Ministry small group facilitator (Katie)
- Young Adult Life Group leaders (Tyler & Katie)
- Young Adult Sunday School leaders (Tyler & Katie)
- Periodic teaching opportunities with youth group/young adults (Tyler)
